at a certain stage, you will meet many people able to do the things you do at a similar caliber, if not higher*

and at that point, it is worth asking: i have this ability, but what type of person do i want to be? do i want to rouse resentment in others or teach them the material in a way that works for them? will you let this ability define you or will you keep your sense of self separate? will you rule or collaborate?

some of these options take less energy than others. that doesn't mean they're the right ones, or the wrong ones. in the end, it is your choice and your choice only.

*certain stage does not mean final stage! I'm primarily talking about when everyone is tackling the same coursework–outside of this coalescing of interests, there is freedom to follow your genuine curiosity and specific passion. that's a different circumstance, though, and I'll share my thoughts on that later
